Shooters World SBR Socom D063-01 For Online
Shooters World SBR Socom D063-01 Smokeless powder has no reloading propellant equivalent. It is faster in burning speed than ACCURATE 1680 and slower than Winchester 296 or Hodgdon H110. However, the propellant gas generation rate is appropriate for .300 Blackout, 7.62×39, reloading 458 SOCOM data and especially .458 SOCOM straight-wall rifle cartridges, where rapid conversion from gunpowder to gas is desired. SBR SOCOM powder is quite suitable as a SINGLE propellant for .300 Blackout subsonic and supersonic applications. It has a residual of less than 1680 in subsonic applications and exceeds 296 in supersonic applications. Its performance with a 220-grain Match King Sierra for a subsonic load is perfect.
However, where it really shines is with a 150-grain FMJ or hunting bullet. While other fuels leave the .300 Blackout anemic at best with a 150-grain bullet, 458 SOCOM SBR can be used to approach the speed of a Winchester Ballistic Silvertip .30-30 Winchester with the exact barrel length! The energy level of a 150-grain bullet at 2150 fps out of a 16″ barrel is quite impressive, given this small cartridge.
Due to its burn rate and density, all indications are that this fuel will work well with the larger Magnum family of pistols. While “1680” is a little too slow for .500 S&W and similar cartridges, SOCOM’s gas generation rate keeps up with the needs of the growth ratios of these large magnum pistol calibers and sectional densities of bullets. However, the density of the 458 SOCOM pistol is approximately 0.99 grams/cc. Contains a level of flash suppressor. Its spherical geometry ensures very consistent powder drops when firing rounds with a progressive charger. Under the Lovex brand, this fuel is called 458 SOCOM powder.
An additional benefit is the extended history of Shooters World propellants. Since 1920, Shooter’s World has been producing propellants. Under the Lovex name, several of these fuels are distributed throughout Europe.
Warning About Reloading 458 SOCOM:
- Do not exceed the charges shown in the recharger guide.
- Never mix two powders still of type, brand or source.
- Never substitute 458 SOCOM reloading for smokeless powder or any black powder substitute.
