45/70 Government 300gr. Hornady JHP (Goldilocks Load)
Due to popular requests, we have brought back our 45/70 Government 300gr., ideal for deer at < 100 yards. The basis for its name, “The Goldilocks Load,” is that its recoil is JUST RIGHT. Falling between our low-recoil Trapdoor secure load (1410 FPS from an 18″ barrel) and our powerful High-Power load (2054 FPS from an 18″ barrel), this round outperforms the low-recoil load at longer ranges. Without making your shoulder pain.
Compared to our high-powered load, impact velocities between 0 and 70 yards will produce a more controlled bullet expansion with more significant weight retention and potentially minor flesh damage. The speed of the 18″ barrel is 1,830 feet per second.
